How To Make A Chocolate Syrup

You will need:

  • 200g sugar
  • 210ml water
  • 200g coco powder
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Firstly, wisk the sugar, water, coco powder and salt in a saucepan and bring to the boil. After 5 minuites, the syrup should have began thickening - if you are using the vanilla extract, you can put that in now but if not, allow to cool then put in a refrigerated bottle.

Easy right? This chocolate syrup is a drizzeling luxury. A sense of a mocha without the mocha. Why not try an alcholic syrup?

How To Make A Hazelnut Syrup

You will need:

  • 200g brown sugar
  • 250ml water
  • 150g blanched hazelnuts
  • 50g honey

To begin with you need to roast your hazelnuts in the oven for roughly 20 minuites at 160°C/320°F - Bake until brown and they start to create a delightful smell. Using a clean tea towl wrap the nuts inside and using a rolling pin, roll over the nuts until crushed. Bring the water to a boil and add sugar and honey until dissolved then add the broken nuts and again, bring to the boil but make you are continuiously stiring for another 5 minuites. Reduce the pan to simmer until the mixture has decreased by about a quarter. Finally, drain your mixture, leave it to cool and again refrigerate.

How To Make A Strawberry Syrup

You will need:

  • 200g sugar
  • 200ml water
  • 400g strawberries

Start by simmering your water in a medium/high-heat but be careful not to bring to the boil. Stir in the sugar until it is fully dissolved. Whilst adding the strawberrys, simmer for 10 minuites on a lower heat but make sure you are continuously stiring, the syrup wil begin to thicken once the strawberrys become softer and can crush easier.
